1. Richard Poulton was born of Wombourn and was buried on 15 Apr 1795 in Trysull, Staffs.¹

General Notes: This is a second Richard Poulton (2) who married Grace Bishen on the 25th of August 1747 in Wombourn, six years before Richard P1 (See RIN 232) who married Hannah Martin.

Richard and Hannah are shown as part of the core Poulton lineage, but not Richard, Grace and their descendants.

Wombourn and Trysull churches are about 2 miles apart.

Of their children, Joseph and Richard are of a similar age to Hannah Martin's sons Joseph & Richard.

The marriage entry in St Peters, Wolverhampton reads "May 9, 1753, Richard Poulton of Seisdon and Hannah Martin of Biston Married under license".

As Seisdon is part of Trysull and Bilston part of Wolverhampton (for marriages) this supports the lineage as shown ie Richard P (1) married Hannah and Richard P (2) married Grace. Furthermore Richard P (1) would be age 30: the same age as Hannah Martin. The marriage of Richard and Grace took place in Wombourn and both were "of this parish".

On balance, this supports the core lineage as shown

For children and grandchildren, the later marriage is consistent with later children/grandchildren.

No record showing a christening of this Richard P (2) or Grace Bishen was found in Wombourn or Trysull Parish Registers. The first record is their marriage.

Richard married Grace Bishen on 25 Aug 1747 in Wombourn, Staffordshire.² Grace was born of Trysull and died on 2 Feb 1771 in Trysull.
